Tell your story, better.

Do you want to photograph the world you live in more effectively? In our four week class we will learn:

01
Intentional
composition

This will be the through line of our get togethers. We’ll go over techniques for documenting your world, loves ones, and moments artfully and effectively.

02
Technical
Component

Whether you consider this the highlight of the course, or a necessary evil, there will be the technical side of photography. The course will give you a working knowledge of cameras to prepare students for any sort of device they choose to use.

03
Graceful
Implementation

The storytelling and technical aspects of photography need to blend seamlessly into execution. The camera is, after all, and intrusion that can get in the way of enjoying those future memories. It’s important to get the shot, without it getting in the way of the moment.

This class will teach participants more effective visual storytelling through photography.

We’ll be exploring common compositional techniques, how to more artfully use common cameras such as phones and digicams, and learning the technical side of operating full-fledged digital and film cameras and the exposure triangle.

Our main focus throughout the month long course will be on authentic storytelling and visual communication. In a world flooded by half-assed snapshots, a thoughtfully composed photograph invites the viewer to slow down, feel something, and truly see.

Beautiful and gripping imagery can be captured on any device. We encourage students to bring along any camera they have available to them, be it an old digital point and shoot, their parents film camera, their smartphone, a brand spanking new mirrorless camera, or any type of other tool they have.
